I live in Northern CA.. and am considering activating a cell phone. From what I am aware of, we have the following services:

    1) Verizon
    2) Sprint
    3) AT&T
    4) Nextel
    5) etc.

Do you guys know which CRA they check or what they look for? How 'bout which ones are easiest to get? Thx..

sprint pay $25 doesn't matter what ur credit is, if you haven't screwed them over.

    at&t has a similar credit-card pay plan.

    Places that do want deposits:
    powertel
    nextel
    mci
    cingular

If you go to Radio Shack, you can get a cell phone no matter what your credit is like. I know from experience. I went with Sprint, and paid $99.99 for the phone and it came with a $100.00 rebate. I pay $39.99 a month and I have a $125 monthly spending limit. By far, the customer service has been great and you can even pay your bill online. www.sprintpcs.com I activated my phone online, too!

    Good luck!

I have AT&T. They have a usage management program. My limit was $200/month.Meaning I could not let my balance exceed $200 at any time or it would be disconnected. After 3 months of good payment they will remove the program and you will be considered regular service. It wasn't a bad program at all-especially for only 3 months.I have not had any problems with their service or customer support and they have online bill pay/view balance/make changes to service etc. They pulled Equifax and report to all 3.Hope this helps

I have AT&T as well. Not sure what they pulled as this was pre-creditnet.com education. Open credit right off the bat. I am going to assume AT&T will try to work with you. Nextel wanted a $500.00 deposit per phone.

AT&T does report to all three CRA (or in my case two as Junum had one removed) but with a 0 limit.

    Best regards,
    Sam

That is strange.. I've had an AT&T phone (really Cellular One) activated for about 4-5 years now.. it is still in my name (did a deposit for a year and no longer need one for it), but I let my parents use that... but I've never seen the phone on my credit reports.

Do you guys think it might be different depending on where you are? I live in Northern California.. so I hope that Sprint doesn't charge if I go to Radio Shack.. I also don't want to put any unncessary inquiries on my report.. thanks for the quick rseponses BTW.

I still need to do research on the best deals, coverage, etc. as well..
