I recently moved into a new apartment and the second I step inside the door, I go from having 6 bars to having 1 not good, since I use my cell phone as my home phone. I hate to succumb to the "as seen on tv" cell phone boosters as I really can't believe that for $5 my problem will be solved, but even if they work just a little bit - and I can get up to 2 bars - it would be such a big improvement. has anyone actually bought these things - or had any luck with other products? thanks
Yes I bought one (got it free after rebate). It was useless. Had no effect at all. Save your money. Original price was about $20.
My friend had to stand by a window to get at least 2 bars on his phone, so don't feel too badly. He then purchased the booster, and eventually saw it was a waste of money. ;-( Please save your money. I am sure there is something out there. What, I don't know. Good luck.
I had AT&T wireless which has very bad reception here in Los Angeles and none at my home. Everytime friends came over I would question them about which service they used and had them try to make a call at my home. Based on this "scientific" survey I switched to Verizon and couldn't be happier. This is only regarding LA, in other cities Verizon may suck and AT&T may be the best, so you have to talk to locals only.
those booster do not work..I got one free with my charger that I bought on Ebay. I took it off, I think I may have even had WORSE reception with it on there.
thanks for all the responses. I think I'm just stuck for now (I know that other service providers suck in my apartment too, so switching isn't going to be an option). I've found that talking with my head out the window and standing on my deck while talking seems to help, so I think I'll be okay (until it starts snowing, of course )
i have good luck with my sprint pcs phone. Alot of it depends on the particuliar phone model and noy just the service provider. I wanted a slick little phone, I got a tiny samsung, I would have to borrow my wife's phone most of the time in doors. We would both be standing next to eachother, but i would have no signal and hers would work fine. Most of my friends with the samsung had the same problem. I got a new audiovox/qualcomm and it works everywhere, indoors at home, work, even in the elevator. i would look at different models. Mine now will work fine even with no strength bars showing.
That might be what I need to do. I have a motorola which I love, but I know my father's nokia seems to have a better signal strength in my apartment. It might be worth switching.
