I was just trying to eliminate a step. No biggie. BTW, I think outlook express has something similar. I haven't tried anything like this, so no input.

I know if you use Lotus Notes, Eudora, or Outlook for your e-mail you can just return recite the e-mail. Works for me when I want to make sure someone gets something.

You can ask for a receipt when using outlook or outlook express, but it does not track the reader's IP address. This service tracks the IP and does not ask if the reader would like to send a receipt, it autimatically sends one when the reader opens the email.

I don't put a lot of credence in these systems for matters like validation letters that may require a legal paper trail.

In the case of a company using a hosted website, the actual IP address may be registered to the host owner and not the company.

Just like most of us believe a court should not accept a "computer print out" as a validation it follows that a computer receipt with an IP address is probably not very credible either.

IMHO nothing better than the good old green postal return receipt with a postmark and signature as evidence.
