4 of the 5 charge-offs listed on my credit report have the notation "Account sold or transfered" or "Account purchased by another lender." Perhaps you are correct and they just reported it wrong although I can't imagine that happening ;).

I was actually planning on doing as you suggest...I'm not going to validate until a least a couple of years from now and just ignore them for a while.

Depending on the issuer, they may have sold the line. <g> I had a Crestar that became a SunTrust that became a Fleet.. and all report transfered or sold, but only Fleet lists it as a CO. It it one of the COs that a CA admitted buying.

Have the CAs contacted you at all and admitted buying them? Are they writing or calling often? (Get an answering machine... ) Once they've changed hands more and the OC has most likely archived the records, then validate. For now, either ignore or C&D... if you can't afford to pay any % to settle, then ignore is probably the best bet - a C&D might cause them to sue. If you ignore, they can't be sure you are at that address and are more likely to leave you alone. Don't apply for more credit - that will verify your adress/phone.

None of the CA's that have contacted me admitted buying my alledged debts. Of course...I haven't asked. I assumed that since it listed as "transferred or sold" on my credit report that the CA had bought them. I assume I will just be lied to as you can trust nothing a CA says.
