I am in the process of disputing a few things on my credit report. My credit is horrible due to a divorce and I am finally able to take care of some small things on my credit report to up my score. When I first started this task my credit score was 505 after disputing a few things on line with the CRA's it dipped to 496, then 507, and this morning 494 with an alert of "change from past due to N/A". Why does this make my credit score go down?

Another question I have 3 old installment loan accounts from 2000, and 2002 that are closed and listed as paid as agreed and also current account. Should I leave these accounts on the CR or request removal? Same issue with an old mortgage 1999, paid. Should I remove this?

Don't really know what "past due to N/A" means. NEVER remove positive accounts such as the ones from 2000 and 2002. They're "helping your score, no matter how old they are.

On the past due to N/A - did you pay it?

No the debt was not paid and this status only recently changed when I started disputing other information on CR. The funny thing is that this item was not disputed but Equifax alert is stating that my score changed because of the change that this company made.

I had a similar situation with a 30 day past due payment. I GW'd it to the OC and they updated the account, removed the past due but put N/A in it's place. It made my score drop, and the account REMAINS on my credit report as a "negative account".

I was better off just leaving the past due alone.
