I'm kind of suprised what has happened lately with mbna quantum. This started off as a fairly prestigious card to get and I was iinitially excited to get it. But lately there have been several changes. It used to start with at least a 15k limit (making it fairly prestigious) now you can get one with a 10k limit. They also used to never charge for going over the limit and would even consider automatically approving a travel and entertainment charge that was over your limit, but now they charge an automatic over-the-limit fee. Is this still their most presitigious cards? I think they need to up the ante and come up with something new to distinquish them and keep up with visa signature and infinity cards. What do you think?I just dont feel excited using it anymore. Kind of like when mercedes started introducing some cheaper models.
I completely agree. I've got the Platinum Plus Card with a pretty huge limit, and I haven't even bothered upgrading, because I figure: "How prestigious can the card be if all I have to do is call and request it?" I meet the "minimum" requirements for the card, but as you mentioned, it's not even that great. I guess I especially agreed with your post re: the Mercedes comment. Now that a C class runs barely more than a Honda Accord, the prestige is all but lost... American Express' Centurion Card seems to be the only real mark of prestige left...but who the hell can justify the outrageous annual fee? ...which is another thing...it wouldn't hurt MBNA to charge a fee. Usually, people don't feel prestigious unless they pay out the a$$ for a credit card...
They put an enclosure in this month's statement that they were going to charge for over the limit and late fees. I think it was sent to everyone because it seemed a general note rather than specific. Watch for it. They got really greedy too. $39.00 for a late payment. Fortunately they can be paid online so I'm not that worried.
Does this apply to the MBNA WorldCard also? The MBNA WorldCard also has no over-the-limit fee. Mazani
