Some of you advised me on a problem with Household Bank. Thanks for your input. I elected to try disputing through the credit bureaus since I wasn't getting anywhere going through the OC. TU has been the first to respond. I received my corrected credit report in the mail and it lists the HH acct as being part of a Chap 7 BK but I have never filed any kind of BK! I called TU today to make sure I was reading it correctly and unfortunately I was so now they are reopening the investigation. Is there anything I should do in the meantime besides follow up with TU in writing? To make matters worse, I am in the process of getting a home loan and that happens to be the report they pulled. Will the mortgage company accept that TU made a mistake since no where else in my credit history is a Chap 7 mentioned? The only good thing is now the balance shows 0. Maybe I should have just left it alone?

    Thanks...

No, you shouldn't have left it alone. Sheesh! TU shouldn't have made the mistake.

If their erroneous reporting keeps you from getting your mortgage, you have a real lawsuit with damages. Did you tell them it was affecting your mortgage?

No, I have not told them that it may keep me from getting a mortgage. I wasn't sure it was appropriate but if you think it will help I will include it in my follow up letter.

If you are in the process of your mortgage, I would not wait to send this through the mail.

As breeze suggested, their screwup could cause major problems with mortgage, you need to call them on the phone demand to speak to a supervisor, I would even ask for their legal department, explain your situation, and tell them you need this fixed NOW and if you have any mortgage problems b/c of their blatant error you will sue for major damages, that will get their attention.

Absolutely! Get on them right now. They can't do this to you.

    Thanks everyone for your advice!

Mortgage company said not to panic since it was obviously a mistake since a BK is reported no where else on any of my credit reports. He said they weren't using TU anyway and the other bureaus had deleted the PITA Household account. Whew.

I shall continue my fight with TU and HH of course.
