I have a question about a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I filed in 6/1997 and was discharged 9/1997. From what I understand this covers all unsecured debts incured before the filing.
Now that I am looking at my credit report there are several items that we debts prior to 6/1997 that are listed as Charged Off. Shouldn't I be able to get those listed as Included in Bankruptcy by notifying the creditor of the bankruptcy?
What about collections for debts prior to 6/1997 such as old doctor bills? If I were to notify the CA are they required to stop collections? Are they required to remove the enty on my credit report entirly or will they change the status to Included in Bankruptcy?
Thanks in advanced for any help you can give me.

did you include these debts in the bankruptcy? If so than yes, you can have them listed as included in bankruptcy. After mine was discharged, I had several that were included listed the same way. I disputed them and got them changed to included, however I will add that you may want to go a different route...search and read in this forum for other ways to dispute them.
