Wow, I have been reading for hours. Great site.

I had an 840 score and was anal about my score until two years ago when an investment through Suntrust went bad. Land in Florida that Suntrust wealth management was pushing went upside down. Lots for 220k reappraised for 35k and Suntrust called the notes. I had no option but file Chap 7
Now a year after bankruptcy discharge and no credit to speak of. I can not get the bankruptcy of my credit obviously but is there anything I can do to start building my credit back. I don't believe in debt and had virtually none other than my home and the investment land when all this happened but I do need a credit card for my travel.

Not that I am lazy but just very busy, is there a reputable company that I can pay to help with this?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Glad you like the site, and welcome to the forum.

I really wouldn't recommend any business to help you rebuild your credit score. Frankly, it won't take a enormous amount of your time, and the things you learn along the way will make it well worth the effort.

First, make sure your credit reports are as clean as possible. If you have any accounts that are still showing as open and overdue even though they were wiped out in the bankruptcy, dispute them through the CRAs and get them listed correctly.

By the way - where do your FICO scores stand now after 2 years?

Next, look into getting a secured credit card, use it wisely, and then you should be able to upgrade to an unsecured card within a year or so. Secured credit cards aren't "fee free", but they're a good option for those who have been through a BK and can't qualify for an unsecured credit card.

If you have a relative or close friend that's willing to add you as an AU to one of their credit cards in good standing right now, that should help give your scores a boost as well from the start.

Good luck, and please come back whenever you have questions or an update for us. One of my favorite things is to hear from forum members that have improved their credit scores through information they receive here. Take care.
