Had an account that charged off back in May, 2001 and bounced around among several CA's who were unable to validate. Today, I received a monthly statement (just like I used to get from them before charge off) from the OC for the first time since it charged off. Can an OC start doing this after an account has been charged off?
Yikes, This is just my opinion, but it sounds like they are trying to get you to make a payment, thereby, acknowlegement that the account is yours( they would probably re-age the account as well.) How old is the account? What state do you live in (for the Statute of Limitations). I would sent a Original Creditor Validation letter. Make them prove they have the original contract bearing your signature, exact accounting of all charges, etc. I'm assuming they do not have any of that info. anymore. humblemarc
