I have to charge off's on my credit report. One from 96 and one from 97. My question is the one from 96 was recently sold to a collection agency. The collection agency is reporting this account as a collection account, not a charge off,on my credit report it shows the first collection date as of August 2000. This sounds to me like they are trying to reage this debt. Is is better for the report to say collection item rather than charge off. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
No, both charge off and any word "collection" is considered bad remarks. See if you can get it taken off.
