Is there any way to get these items removed from a credit report? I had a charged off credit card, which I ended up paying through a collection agency. The collection information was deleted, but the original creditor still appears. I want it gone! I tried to dispute it, but whoever they have working stays on it. I am looking to buy a house and I just want all negative information gone!
Dispute the items with bureaus on grounds that they are inaccurate...if you paid the item try and get documentation that the company will delete the item from your reports... That sets you appart from most. Many people come here saying "I want to buy a house tomorrow, but I found this collection account on my credit report. How can I remove it before tomorrow?"
LOL. While it quicker to get in the mess, I realize that it takes a little time to clean it up. I realize things do not happen overnight, but if they can happen at all, that works for me. I do have a goal of purchasing a house, but it is more important that everything is taken care of appropriately before I consult a lender. I will continue to dispute. I am hoping I will come across some poor soul who will just give in and delete.
Don't bet on it if it's an original creditor. Most of them have long and accurate account histories, and will report accurate information. After some number of disputes, the CRA will probably label them as frivolous and won't accept any more disputes. The older it gets, the less it impacts your score. Try building your positive history. If you get your scores up enough you may still get a mortgage.
Hedwig has a good point. It really depends on how old the TL (trade line) is and the OC company policies. I have had good success with removing OC charge off trade lines that were pass the states SOL. If it is less than say 24 months old that maybe very difficult indeed (depending on the state) . DON't keep disputing them, they will mark them as frivolous and you will be stuck for the hold 9 yards (e.g. 7 years) Without knowing more you will need to use your patience and let some time lapse before you tackle them again. This is just my opinion without knowing the whole situation and the dates of the charge off's.
You can keep disputing them but you just cannot dispute the same claim over and over...that is what they deem frivioulous...
True, but if you dispute it as anything other than "not mine" it stays on and if you keep disputing it as "not mine" back to back they will sent you a letter saying this information has already been investigated and it gets called frivolous. If you dispute it as "inaccurate" then they are only going to "update" the information to make it accurate (e.g. dates, amounts, etc) Question: How old is the charge off? What state are you in? And who is the OC? And how have you been disputing it with the CRA?
I am in the same situation. I have two Cap 1 accounts that were charged off back in 2005. I can't get them removed. Any ideas?
Sounds like you are going through the CRA's. The CRA's will continue to report this as long as the OC keeps "verifying it" what is your states SOL?
