When I originally disputed this old debt from 1998 through the mortgage company it came back as verified. I don't remember this debt (yes, I remember having an account with them but I thought the thing was paid). The account is with the original debtor and when I called I told the lady I didn't remember the debt being owed and she simply said I should dispute it through the credit company which will make us research it because it's from so long ago I really don't have any records here to tell you why $800 was charged off? I don't know if I should call back and offer $400 to make this thing disappear or should I go through the whole process of disputing the debt only to have them simploy verify it again. Time ticketh I have about 5 weeks until closing what should I do experts? Thanks so much for all your advice and help . . . it's greatly APPRECIATED!
