chargeoff question

    I disputed a 2 year old chargeoff inthe amt. of 250.00. The coll. agency verified the debt but dropped the amt. to 75.00. Should I validate or offer to settle if they will remove the tradeline? The CA is credit management inc. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi CJ,

    Do you have a notice from them that you owe $250?

    Or did you just see it on your report?

    I did not receive a bill. I did see it on my credit report. I think it is a cable bill my old roomate had.

    I don;t remember if it was just in his name of if I had to cosign.

    the result of the dispute said "updated" an dthe balance changed from 250.00 to 75.00

    In other words The CA verified it to the CRA but the CA did not validate it with you. Is this correct?
    You should have sent the CA a Val. letter and you would already have the CA on a $1000 violation at this point.

    Get tha V L off to them now!
