Ah, it's good to read creditnet :)
After reading here about Chase cardholders getting all kinds of peachy offers - i called the retention number last month (1-800-345-8089) and asked politely what they could do for me.
Well, Mark LA, they said you have a stockback plat card and I can only offer you all kinds of goodies on our regular platinum card - would you like to convert to our preferred platinum?
Didn't really use the stockback all that much - the apr was too high (12.24) and the 1% cashback didn't excite me al that much - so i sez to him I sez- hell yeah - let's convert (the card, I mean).
anyhoo - got the new card the other day - called retention - got 6.9% fixed and the O% bt offer, no fees, for 12 months.
    GO CHASE! GO CHASE! rarararra!!!!!

Congrats. Let me know if it shows up as a new card on your CR. I got the same offer, but I was afraid to switch cards because I didn't want to have a new account show up. I would be great if they transferred the history.

BTW, you need to have one of your editors review your posts. "thier?"

I thought about that also - and i'm hoping it's just transferred - i figured i'd wait til it shows up and then deal with it (goodwill letter to chase) in case they post it as a new account.

    P.S.
i dunt noe waht yuo meen abuot "thier"

P.P.S. "I would be great if they transferred the history."
perhaps: ***it*** would be great if they transferred the history.

P.P.P.S. Wolvie. who loves you? :)))

We just converted one of our Chase cards a few weeks ago. The reporting is weird.

The old account is still there with the CL and with zero balance. (We had paid it off before converting.) Doesn't show as closed yet.

The new account is also there with the CL and zero balance and all of the history of the old account.

Did nice things for ratios. Didn't hurt average age.

Hope it stays just like it is. :)

You can get a credit line increase before 6 mos. especially if you do a balance transfer. I got one last month after having the card 2 mos. but it was with the bt. I got the rate lowered to 6.9% fixed and the 12mos bt with no fees. I've only had the card since 7/02.

BTW, Congrats MarkLA feels good to have 0% interest for 12 mos.

No, I really meant "I" would be great if they transferred the history. You see, I originally posted about chase switching products, so if you get good results, I must be great. Really.

Kev, it couldn't hurt to call - the worst that could happen is they'd tell you to wait.

Yeah - and even better - with no bt fees.
I'm guessing Chase is hoping that people use THEIR (cough) cards for purchases after they bt - cuz as you all know - I HOPE - when you begin to pay back on the card - the payments are applied first to the bt amount.

In other words - the apr charged on purchases continues to add up until you pay off the bt and begin paying the card purchases.

    Everyone here knows that, right?

Does this mean that all credit cards do this, or is it just Chase?
    Thanks!

I don't know about that. I have made a couple of purchases. I haven't noticed if they have actually applied it to the purchase first or the bt. I thought I had 0% for both, because I just got my statement. I didn't notice having any interest applied. I'll have to the website and check.

But thanks for the heads up.

They did charge me interest only $.50 the purchase balance is $30. I won't be using that card for purchases anymore. I didn't realize that. I've had 0% with Amex and Discover on bt and purchases so I really wasn't paying attention.

    Thanks again!
