    Attn Chase Banking creditnetters!

For those in the NY area, I noticed last week at a Chase ATM (the new "smart ATMs"), when I made a cash withdrawal, a screen popped up with an offer to accept a Chase Platinum card.

After a few short seconds, the screen informed me that I'd get a CL of $7,100. I got the card on Monday and yes indeed, $7,100 and an APR of ~12% variable. 0% on BTs.

You can imagine my surprise, considering I had my Chase student Mastercard revoked in '91!

VERY INTERESTING...(although I get all the money I want from work...at no cost)

WHAT DO YOU USE MONEY FOR ANYWAY???

All I need it for is TACO BELL...no checks---no credit cards

Congratulations but 12% is a little high compared with other low intro rates being offered.

Do you have an account with Chase or were you just using their ATM?

Back in the 1980's Shell Oil did the same thing. If you used any credit card they asked if you wanted a Shell card. Naturally, most of the accounts charged off down the road.

Yes, I bank with Chase. Couldn't even get approved for a LOC four years ago.

Slowly building up my scores thanks to all the strategies here at CN.

call this # 800-345-8089, it't the special dept. I got 6.9% fixed from them. I had 14.9% variable before that and I didn't have to wait 6 mos.

Thanks for the tip! I will call & see what happens.

Re: Usage strategy to get larger CLI, should I take advantage of the BT check (0% through July 2004). BT (to myself) up to 80% of the max and pay back over 3 months to show usage?

So far, I've been making small purchases (dinners, groceries), paying a % online, so that I have a small balance (~$75) when the statement arrives.

    Thanks for all the advice.
