Everyone! Perhaps my question will help everyone.... I have just received a Chase Platinum pre-appoval in the mail. Does anyone have any experience/insight as to what they require for FICO scores and/or history that might be instructive to everyone who does receive such an offer? In particular... 1- What scores are their minimum requirements? 2- If someone has any lates on their report/s, will they be automaticallly denied? 3- Any personal experiences would be helpful... Thanks for your input! Charles
hi, I do have three chase cards they always pull tu scores have been 704 to 798 always approved no derogs .....at least 4 years of history every time I applied..... how many inquiries do you have on tu in the last 6 months ??????
Thanks alot for your reply! My TU (I just checked), is: Score: 691 (not as good as yours) No derogs on record. No inquiries in last 6 months. Any suggestions? Should I try or is my score too low? Should I risk a hard inquiry? Thanks (alot) again for your input and assistance! Charles
List! Dilligaf had replied to me earlier but if anyone else has had any experience with Chase, it would be great if you could pass it on! Thanks! Charles
I've had my Chase account for over 2 years. When I applied, I believe my score was just above 700. This was a fake TU score at the time so it could have been lower or higher. I was approved instantly for the Platinum card (I'm not sure if they still do instant approval via the internet). I thought my credit was clean, but after checking my TU report, I noticed an incorrect derogatory item was inserted. I disputed and it was immediately removed, but Chase had already approved my application. I was pretty surprised. Anyhoo, I think you will be ok. If you received an actual preapproval, they have already reviewed your credit. As long as nothing has changed in your credit profile and you have the income to support their requirements, you shouldn't have a problem being approved. Good luck with your decision!!
ALL I CAN SAY IS THE TRUTH... No limit increases in 3+ years 25+ years PERFECT CREDIT They had a FAKE 30 day late...on a closed account so they "JACKED" my open account to 16.24% I applied for a second card...DENIED because of the FAKE 30 DAY LATE WHAT 30 DAY LATE???? They said SORRY...OUR ERROR...do you want us to RECONSIDER your application...YES IF NO HARD...sorry we can't do that (it has been too long since the application)...OK FORGET IT!!! What can you do about the "JACKED" 16.24% rate that was based ON FALSE INFORMATION...sorry nothing at this time CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!!! YOUR LOSS!!! BUH BYE
Add to that some seriously crappy customer service and the constant APR jacks that make your head spin. PawMix
Chase has done well by me, so far. I was approved for a Classic card with a few 30 day lates on TU (one year old lates) about 2.5 years ago. My score was probably 670 or so. My card has been converted to a Platinum and the initial credit limit has been tripled. Be sure to call their special dept. for account adjustments (search for a thread called "direct to r" for their number). They should offset any APR jacks or other sneaky actions and they will offer you 0% BT APR for 12 months. If you ask for any kind of CL increase you WILL get at least one hard inquiry.
charles , I would apply .....you should be fine go for the regular plat first then work on lowering apr mine is 6.99 fixed right now!!!!!!!
I applied for the Chase Platinum in Feb of this year and was approved for $20K. I was not happy with the interest rate so I called after about five months to close the account. Guess what? They lowered my apr to 6.99 fixed. As a result I have decided to keep the card. Also, I have not had any difficulty with Cust Serv. Regards, ChesterR
Everyone! Thanks for your feedback! I went online and sent it in.... we'll see what happens. I was not instantly approved... they told me that my application needed further review. When I applied for (and received) my Bank of America Platinum this May (CL 10,400), the same thing happened (my application had to be reviewed). So maybe the fact that I was not instantly turned down means there is a chance I will get approved... I will let everyone know. Incidently, I checked my Equifax Credit Report (I have the monitoring program), and there was no inquiry there, so maybe, as others have mentioned earlier, and on the Yahoo group whopulledmycredit, Chase does almost exclusively pull TU. Thanks again everyone, and I will let everyone know what happens. Sincerely, Charles
List, As I mentioned I DID apply for the Chase Plat card, and I did it online. After I processed my application online, I was not immediately approved and was provided a form letter (online) stating that my application would require further review. I gave Chase a few days and then called them. The told me I was indeed approved, and was given a 4000 credit limit (oh well). So in summary, my experience was: 691 TU score No derogs on report No inquiries for over 1 year. Did get approved after in-house processing for: 4000 CL Thanks list for all of your advice! Charles
Hey will, what's up? I have charged up (bt) and paid off my account almost twice over now and no pre-approved limit increase yet. It's only been like 3-4 months. You think that's it? I called today (current zero balance) and no offer for an increase. Am I being impatient? lol Thought it was worth a try!
Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? That's a great initial limit. Did you have other cards that high or a long credit history? After the 5 mos when you called, had you used it much? If so, for balance transfers or purchases? Just curious what makes them happy!
Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? I just got my Chase Platinum. 7K Limit. I was "pre-approved" at the closing on my house. I went ahead and filled the app out (chase is my mortgage co) both my wife and I didn't think I would get approved for the card, she has 740+ scores, I'm in the middle to high 6's, with a BK in '98. I got the card in the mail on Thursday. They didn't pull a CR either, and the account is only in my name, not hers. Needless to say I was shocked. The second win for me in the last month, as I finally persuaded First National Bank of Omaha to reissue my card. Went to VP Finance level. I had a perfect history 10+ years no lates, or bounced checks. But becuase of the BK, their policy is BK=No card. I fought almost 4 months to get that damn card reissued. PolarisA3 Stats on the Chase Card: 0% BT until 8/04 0% Purchases until 8/04 8.9% After. BK Discharged '98 Scores in the mid 6's
Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? JOIN THE CLUB...I had my CHASE 3+ years...NO LIMIT INCREASE...EVER!!! Then the DENIED ME A SECOND CARD because of a "FAKE" 30 day late (OOPS OUR ERROR)..."DO YOU WANT US TO RE-PROCESS THE APPLICATION??? Only if you can do it with-out a "HARD"...sorry it has to be "HARD" because of the time since your original application...I SAID FORGET!!! They did a "HARD" anyway!!! Then they "JACK" my current card to 16.24% because of the same FAKE 30 day late...THEY COULD NOT FIX IT AT THAT TIME BECAUSE OF THE TIME SINCE NOTIFICATION HAS BEEN EXCESSIVE...ok...you don't want my business...FINE...CLOSE THE ACCOUNT (as long as you won't do a "HARD" for that too!!!)
Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? I think most companies want at least a minimum of 6 months with an open acct before they'll consider a CL increase. I called BofA about one last week. I have been a cust so far for 8 mos, and wouldnt you know it...their requirement for a CL was 9 mos as a cust. Go figure.
Re: Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? I know it's tough, but your patience should pay off. Bofa is very generous with credit limit increases. I think the 9 month rule is only for new customers. I think after that, it is every 6 months. Not positive though as I don't call frequently for increases. However, I called last night and asked about balance transfer offers. At the end of the conversation, I asked the rep about an increase without a hard inquiry. She gave me $3,000. Wow....I was only expecting about $1,000. It took her about 5 seconds. I have received over $6,000 in increases in a little over 2 years. Hang in there!!
Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? Amy B, Sorry for the delay in responding - I was out of town for two weeks at the beach with my family. When I applied, I had cards with $25K limits and one was $35K (closed First USA Visa). My credit history goes about 22 years. I was not using the card that much (I actually applied on a whim) and did not do any BTs. To tell you the truth I am still considering closing the account. I prefer my Amex Platinum and Citi Dividend where Amex is not accepted. I think I answered everything. Regards, ChesterR
Re: Re: Re: Re: Chase Platinum Requirements? You were right. I called to upgrade to a Plat card and simply asked if I was eligible to be considered for an increase and the lady said I can check. 5 seconds later she said you have been approved for $2500! I was happy as a lark!
