Ok, I posted yesterday under rate jacking thread, but today I need some help so I started a new one.

Chase jacked my rate from 10.15- 16.24%, I called rep said I recieved notice in dec (I did not) and if I wrote to them I could have saved rate- said I still could write to them. I asked what was the reason she said something about acct review/credit score jack- I have no problems with CR or Chase.

Called again today on the premis of getting someone else who could tell me something and help me. I call and am told to call dept in charge of rates- retention. Call them and get some lady- nice as can be but could care less what I was saying. She said I was sent notice (was not!) of this it is called a Negative Opt Out which I guess is their term for interest rate scam! Basically you have the choice to close your acct and preserve the rate you are at or get hiked prime plus 11.99.

Well even if I had recieved notice, this account is closed already! I was on their hardship program for 2 yrs and paying on my own since 8-02- never late in all that time.

I asked retention lady to get me someone who could help me as she just kept blowing smoke up my @$% and she said I had to speak to collections. Huh??? She transferrs me to collections, the girl was about as helpful as my 4 yr old with this!

She repeated about opting to close the acct to preserve rate etc... I said this acct is already closed! How could I close it and preserve the rate???? She said "I don't know what you are complaining about, 16% is a good rate for accts that come off the hardship program" Hello???????? I was at 10%!!! I asked her why would you raise the rate on an acct being paid as agreed- I am trying to pay it rather than default on it. She said that was a choice I would have to make!!!!!??????????? Ridiculous!!

She said the acct is closed and they cannot lower the rate. What???? You cant lower it, but you can raise it whenever you feel like it????????

I am so screaming mad and need some clear headed advice. I am thinking planetfeedback. Any advice welcome on this.

I had the same issue with Citi. A PFB solved my problem.

I have not had very good luck using pfb with Chase. They always acknowledge receipt, tell me I will have an answer in 24 hours, and thats all I hear from them.

I called back (partly cause I am a glutton for punishment, partly cause they pissed me off!) to see if I could get somewhere.

I called CS who said they couldnt help me at all since the acct was closed, there was nothing they could do. She said I needed to call Flex pay which is their hardship program ( I think she thought I was still on it) I repeated several times, I have been off it since 6-02 and she insisted I needed to talk to them, nothing she could do.

Ok, get the flex pay lady who says there is nothing she can do, only CS can change interest rate.

    UGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

I think she thought I was still on it too as she kept saying of course your rate will go up off the hardship program- she wasn't getting that I was not protesting the increase from 5% on hardship to the 10% I was raised to when finished. Took a couple of reapeats and she finally cut me off, put me on hold for over 5 minutes.

She came back on said I am transferring you to CS and have explained the problem that the acct is closed so no choice for me to opt out and keep my lower rate, etc...

CS said she would put in the request for my rate to be returned. As per the notification, I was supposed to have written in before a date in Feb so she didn't know if they would.

I will wait and see what they say then will PFB if need be.

Too bad this acct is already closed!!!
