Ok- here's the story...my fiancee has had a Chase card for years...like 6 or 7 years. They have never increased his limit ($1000) and they are charging him an annual fee and his balance is zero.
He called a few weeks ago to try and get the annual fee removed and they said no, so he said ok, well I guess I'll just close the account. The girl said, "I can't do that for you...you'll have to call another number to do that". My fiancee finally just gave up and didn't bother to call the other number. He gets a letter in the mail the other day telling him that his card has been cancelled as he requested.
I'm really surprised they didn't try to keep by upping his limit or interest rate or something...has this ever happened to anyone else?

I bet the "other number" was retention. On the other hand, if he never uses the account, maybe they really didn't care.

Does he has a SS# or Tax ID?, is he a permanet US resident?.
I ask you that because I had the same situation with Amex, long
time ago when I had not SS#
