anyone have experience with the Chase secured credit card?
Im going to apply for it, and send along a check for 1k to start off...but Im concerned they may have strict requirements like wells fargo. I'd hate to let 1k float around for a few months while they decide to decline me.
my credit is still bad, and some stuff 'looks' recent.

    thanks

Hi Mark _ I THINK - that with the CHASE Secured Card - you cannot have had a BK showing - anyone out there able to verify?

I would like a CHASE card myself - but I think they bounce you immediately IF you have a Chap 13 on your record.

Let me know how it works out if you go for it.

    IMLOST - go to

www.aboc.com - that is Amalgamated Bank of Chicago. THEY have a GREAT secured card - you only need to put up $500 and get a rate around 10%.

They pay you 1 or 2% on your deposit.

I used them successfully for a copuple of years - still shows now as a positive reference.

You can call them and you get the card in about 3 weeks.

    Nice looking MC also!

I have the Chase Secured card and it's o.k. but there is nothing special about it. The card will never turn unsecured. After a certain about of time, you have to apply for a regular card and they will definately take the secured card into consideration.

How I got the card was I applied for their standard classic card and they sent me a letter stating that I didn't meet their approval standards for their classic card, but instead approved me for a secured card. Keep in mind that like a year ago I called and requested an application for their secured card, filled it out, and sent it back with $300. They sent me my check back with a denial letter. At the time their secured program was strictly for someone with little or no credit trying to build, not re-build. I guess they might have changed that now.

So I suggest that if you can afford an inquiry, apply for the classic card and see what happends. Maybe they might make you an offer for their secured card. Maybe they won't. Hell...maybe they'll give you a regular card. You never know. If denied (and either offered the secured or not), you can always fire off a Planetfeedback letter and plead your case. Others have gotten reconsideration this way.

    Hi MP!

Maybe I will look at the CHASE site - I know I could get a good one in 15 months to clean report...

    thanks all..
    dogman,
did you apply online for the secured one?
did it work like chase, where they denied you for the normal then gave you the secured?
did it report to all of CRA's?

hey mark - nope - I applied for the secured from the get go. They report to all, and you can increase uptp $5K.

current credit does not matter -other than fraud...
