I have had the Perfect card for about 10 months now. I called in for a limit increase and they said they needed to pull a hard. I said forget it. I also asked if they could lower my insanely high 15.9% apr. That was denied. WTF! This is my highest apr on any one of my cards. I have always paid them on time and my balance at the time of calling was under $400. My CL is 8k btw. Wtf is up Chase's ass? WTF do they need to pull a hard? I have used this card a lot and almost always pay it off. If I dont get a limit increase or apr decrease soon, well, to hell with them! Now I know what George is talking about!!

Call retention. I had the Universal card last year with the 15.9% rate and asked for an apr decrease. They said no. I IMMEDIATELY called retention and they lowered it to 9.9% on the spot.

I called retention about a year ago, and I've been at 6.9% ever since.

Thanks for the info guys. Just a quick question. When I call retention, do I need to threaten them with closure? What do I say to them?

Unreal. I just called them and told them that my other cards were far below 10%. The retention rep said they had no offer for me now. Bastards. To hell with Chase!

Tell them how much you like there card and want to build a relationship, but the interest rate is pretty high, if you can compare it to another card that has a better rate you can do that..
Then ask what may be available and see if you like it I have 5.99% but that took awhile.
I would not threaten to close unless you mean it.
Keep it low key and professional they will do what they can for you
If not this time try again in 3-4 months they will come around.
    Good Luck

Thanks 8004me. I suppose I will try again later. What's funny is that the retention rep couldn't figure out why I was transferred to her. LOL! Little does she know about creditnet and the hookups:)

I've had luck calling and being very friendly. On my Universal card, I just said that I was interested in using this card for the rewards, but the apr is too high. They didnt give me any hassle and lowered it w/o question.

I've had Ultimate Rewards Plat since january. Got it with 8.99V rate. I called 2 weeks after i got the card and stated that my other 2 cards that I primarily used had better rates and the girl immediately said "how does 6.99 fixed sound"?

Sorry to hear about your problems. Maybe you could try again and maybe you'll get a reb who's having a good day. Just remember to be nice.

BTW, since you've had the card, have you always paid on time and considerably more than the min due?

One other thing. If you're at 15.99 now, don't expect to go striaght to 5.99. Shoot for something reasonable like 9.99. Give it a few months and then call back.

I had a hard time getting BofA to reduce their 11.99V rate. I even called retention twice, about a month apart each time. No dice. Finally, on the 3rd time, they dropped me to 7.9F. Not as good as some others I've seen, but very respectable.

Persistance pays off. If all else fails, sock drawer them for a while.

    Chase really is horrible.

Sadly, the freedom card with its flat 1% back, is my best card for non-gas purchases.

They deny my CL increases, give me a horrible APR, all I give them is the merchant fees off my purchases.

    Horrible, I tell you!

I've always paid more than the minimum and hardly revolve any balances with them due to their high apr. My balance is under $500 now and I have a 8k limit. There is no reason why the apr is so high. At the time of application, my TU fico was 700+. Thanks again for the info guys.
