When I have chat onscreen the changing advertisements at the bottom almost completely cover the line on which I type making it very difficult for me to know if I've typed my text correctly until I press enter and it displays on the larger viewing area which all see. At someone's suggestion I tried to stretch the window but it doesn't help.
It sounds like your browser may be retaining previous settings. We suggest you clear your browser's cache, quit your browser, relaunch and try chat again. If the problem persists please reply to this message. Thank you. pbm
