Dont allow server actions and hosting. Maybe someone else who has a constant connection can answer some questions better than I can. Nave runs it with DSL.

ha- :) I wonder why that happened.

something popped up when you left.

it was blocked though. whatever it was.

You can't break it. Fiddle with it and you'll get the hang of it. If the pop ups annoy you, just change it to no popups. but at first they're fun.

Glad I can't hurt anything. This kinda stuff is new to me, so I get worried at slightest hiccup.

I'll play around with it, and if i need more help, I'll ask you :)

security is apparently the same as the stop button in the system toolbar. It disconnects you (temporarily) from the internet. You use it if you thinbk you are being hacked or attacked.

Nah, it won't crash your system or anything, and all the things that ask permission to access the internet have been accessing it all along, so it isn't an emergency kind of thing.

You have a sort of firewall from your equipment anyway. Do you have a router?

    What does a router do?

    A router?.

I have a cable modem with a ethernet card.

yep same thing. You will start to see the alerts, and then look them up to see what they are. You kind of learn as you go.

cable modems have a sort of firewall built in, but it's not as good as zone alarm. You don't want to act as a server - not unless you are one, LOL, and I don't think so. If it tries to be a server, someone has hacked you.

Usually you just see port scans.
