I've learning SOOOOO much here! Just used the nutcase letter this morning. :)

I keep seeing someone say, "checked my cr today and it's gone" or something like that and I'm wondering how often you check your reports and doesn't that get expensive? I ordered all three cr for my husband and I but I sure can't imagine doing that every month!

You can check your reports and investigation status online.

If I'm correct (and I've only checked mine through Experian) it only counts as a "soft" inquiry that no one but you and the CRA see.

A lot of folks here use credit monitoring services from either Equifax or Experian. Some use both. Both are available for 30 day free trials.

Equifax offers a service called creditwatch. You can find it here www.equifax.com . You get a 30 day free trial, and the annual membership is either $69 or $79 (I always forget which), with your membership you get unlimited access to your credit report and score.

Experian offers a service called creditexpert. You can find it here www.experian.com . You get a 30 day free trial, and the annual membership is $59 (again, I believe that is what it is, it may be slightly higher or lower), with your membership you get unlimited access to your credit report and score.

With both services, if you cancel before 30 days you do not get billed.

Transunion does not offer any service like EQ and TU do. My suggestion is to just go online at www.transunion.com and go to order your report online, and just select that you were denied for credit within the last 60 days, name a creditor (doesn't matter who) and you should have online access, it only lasts for 6 days, but it also includes your score, although TU's score isn't quite accurate.

Equifax CreditWatch is 69.95 for a year (that will include the free trail month). Meaning if you continue after your free trial month, you will get 11 more months making it a total of 12.

Experian CreditExpert is 79.95. Same with the free month equation.

You can, however, find some promotions/specials that may give you $10 (or more) off these services. You can find the link to those that keep appearing here on the board from time to time.
