checking credit score = alert CAs?

    If you check your credit scores, does that action alert CAs and re-start their collection activities?

    It depends on whether they subscribe to a service like "collection triggers" or have a "skip" notation on your TL (if they have a skip on there, you'll have to update your address and contact information in order to pull your report, and I'll give you three guesses where the update goes [and the first two don't count]).
