I was denied a standard Chevron card and received an offer to pen a Chevron Credit Builder account. The letter indicates a initial credit line up to $300.00 and that there may be a "non refundable annual fee". Does anyone have a credit builder account with Chevron? Do they require a deposit? What is the APR and the annual fee if anyone has one? They continue on to mention that after a positive payment history is established future annual fees may be waived. I only use about $75.00 in gasoline a month and I could really use another positive tradeline. Any info on this card would be appreciated.
I have the credit builder card by chevron with 300.00 limit and annual fee 1st year $50 and at end of first year if payments are on time will drop annual fee and it reports to all 3 CB's.They watch u closely first year and then waive fee and increase limit. Its a good card to get if u have chevrons around your neck of the woods
I would definately take them up on their offer. I have this card ($300 limit) and I had to pay $35? annual fee or something (can't remember). This card reports very quickly to all three and their customer service is above average. They do monitor your account closely and be aware that if you go over 2/3 of your limit, they will contact you ASAP! I was at $200 and they sent me a letter to call them IMMEDIATELY! I was like WTF? So I called and the rep stated that they were just concerned because I was "dangerously close to my limit". Whatever. I was also told that your account will be considered for regular status and an increase after 24 months. I will have my card 1 year next month. I'll post if they charge me another fee or not. I'm fine with the $300 limit. I use it mainly for a tank of gas and weekly car washes (so ~$70/mo in charges). I'm a very happy customer.
I was on the Chevron site and found no info about a "credit builder" program or card. You folks know something the rest of us don't?
I applied on the Chevron site for a standard card, and received the offer for the credit builder with the decline letter for the standard card. I think it might only be offered to those that are declined the standard.
Chevron doesn't offer instant.....it's approval via snail mail. If you don't qualify for the standard card, they MIGHT offer you the Credit Builders card. The will send you a decline letter and in the letter they will tell you about the Credit Builder card. If you want to accept their offer, you have to mail back the correspondence along w/ a check or money order for the annual fee.
Actually I received it in the Decline letter. However, they did not ask for the fee to be mailed in but provided a phone number to call and apply via phone.
