About a month ago, someone posted here asking if the Chex debit cards were legitimate or not. The consensus was that they were legitimate, but costly, and that other alternatives existed that were cheaper. To summarize, chex debit cards do not require you to have a checking account. You can deposit funds onto the cards from any bank account. They are imprinted with your name, so they can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted. They are great for the employees who don't have a checking account and who used to use the expensive check cashing services. Pay can be deposited directly onto the card. The employee can then withdraw money from an ATM machine when needed. At the time, I posted that I had ordered cards for some of my employees and had been unhappy that I had not received them in a resonable time. I paid for expedited service, which they advertised as 7 to 10 days. I said at that time I would not make any comment as to their legitimacy. Well. the cards finally arrived. It took six full weeks. I am not crazy about their service, but I guess they are legitimate. Just don't pay for expedited service.
