I hope they shut your gas off, and call the police and get a warrant for your arrest. Then the police come and take you to jail (one with no computer) so I don't have to read any more of your idiotic posts.
Do you think that maybe the check presented to your bank on 1/10 was returned because you closed your account on 1/1? Earth to lbrown...
You bounced the check, dude! Most banks will process checks dated up to 6 months prior to the date of presentment. Never close an account until after all checks drawn upon it have cleared.
How about contacting the gas co. that is holding one of your uncashed checks before you close the account. DUH I do not believe that the bank left you without any means for your outstanding checks to be cashed after the end of the year. BS Even when a bank is shut down that doesn't happen. If you are going to quote someone the least you could do is not add your own idiot text to their quote.
George that's the $64,000.oo Question. You would think that when they posted the check I mailed them on 11-30-1 on 12-6-1, that they had plenty of time to post a check they got 2 days before that check before 1-10-2. There was no excuse for the gas companies delay in processing the check! People on here are all over my a about my gripe at the gas co. for holding a payment , Yet these do-gooders are the first to bitch when a credit card company does the exact same thing with one of their payments.
Where in the H is there any conspiracy in the gas co. just plain screwing up and doing a half A$$ed job??
This is a *GOOD* thread for sure. I love the humor I get on here ...53 posts and about 35 are from LB answering himself over and over
When you close your account, you are responsible for ANY and ALL oustanding checks, not the bank. The gas company has 90 days from the date of the check to cash/deposit it. They were well within that time frame. You have NOT overpaid, in fact you have bounced a check with this company, which can be punishible by JAIL TIME!!! Therfore you have caused a breach of contract, and by law, they may (if they chose) accept only certified checks or cashier checks at THEIR discretion. As far as the gas co.is concerned your checks are no longer good with them. So If I were you, I'd cover the $40, and call it a day, so you don't have to go to the bank for a cashiers check.
Why do you find it humors when a gas Co.delays posting of a payment but you find it irritating when a credit card Co.fails to post payments in a timely manner? Don't understand your logic for the double standard.
One time a bank closed my checking account. They just sent me a check for the balance shown on their records.Needless to say ever one of about 15 0utstanding checks bounced. Let this happen to you just once & you won't think it's BS.It will make a believer out of you real quick. If you haven't experenced it -don't knock it!
