Is Chexsystems considered a CRA? Even if they aren't, they still fall under the FCRA correct? I want to dispute an item with them that the bank itself is wishy washy on removing. I have heard many stories about the terrible record keeping CS has so I think it has a good chance of removal if I dispute it. Do I send a validation letter similar to what I would send a CA?

    TIA

Yes, they are considered a CRA. You would dispute with them just as you would Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Good, I am assuming the 30 day time limit is still in place?

OK, I will send it CM/RRR

How should I word the dispute though? It's a paid item, but I want to word it in such a way that they will be unable to generate documents to prove anything. therefore having to remove it.

I have a fax number if you are interested:

    972-241-4772
I faxed my dispute, and I received notification from them they received it.

For my dispute, I pretended I didn't know what was going on.

'This item cannot possibly be correct, please remove'
(this way, anything can be wrong with it, the date, the amount, the bank, the payment amount, etc...)

It was gone in about 18 days.

I have to say, it was 4 years old, paid, and the bank is going through alot of changes, so I knew it was the time to dispute.

Oh, by the way, remember, they will claim that it can be reinserted if the bank does eventually verify.

    (yeah right!!)

    I hope this helps.
