Only thing I can figgure is some one gave them the check to pay on their bill. They applied it to the wrong account which just happened to be my account. When they didn't get the money from the check they must have reported me to CHEX using my SSN from my account with them:

Target STORES DO send their bounced checks to Chex Systems, whether or not you pay the NSF amount afterwards.

I've never heard of a credit card company reporting a NSF check to CHEX. Has anyone else?

Having said that, I'd say that the CHEX entry is a check bearing your name and address that was NSF at a target store.

Call Target Corporate and ask questions..

If that doesn't work, dispute the entry with CHEX.

I think it might be telecheck, a related company. Whatever you do, when you call chexsystems, don't give them any new info on you - address, especially DL # or name changes==very bad

The check copy they sent me is not one of my checks.
I don't know the persons name on the check. This person lives in a state 3 states over from me.Never heard of the bank the check was drawn on.

So I assume you promptly called Chex or Target and said WHAT THE HELL?!? And what did they say back to you? Obviously this is not your check. They normally use name, address, SSN, and/or Drivers License number to keep track of you.

Yeah but.Isn't it amazing how they seem to go out of their way to screw things up then don't want to do the simplest thing to do it right?
I have another one that tops this.

So is this off of your CHEX report?
