This is probably an odd question. I learned today that I don't have anything negative under ChexSystems. I was wondering which banks use CS and not Equifax or other agencies? I am being considered by Wachovia but want back up in case this falls through...I am praying they don't pull Equifax or I'm screwed.
I am pretty sure that Chex handles "hot" checks and is not a CRA like TU, EXP, and EFX. When you write a check, businesses use these check services to see if you have wrote any hot checks. There is one of these companies in Texas that even had an old chargeoff in their database that kept me from writing checks. I argued with them to no avail over it, then I just went and got a bank check card instead. Someone correct me if I am mistaken. (I am sure Bill will...)
Well, my name's not Bill, but Chex Systems is considered a CRA under the FCRA, and you have the same rights with them that you have with the others. They do collect data and report on consumer's banking history - they don't just collect/report hot checks. Just go read their website. breeze
