Basically......it is my understanding that after 5 years you are then able to open up a checking account. But that doesn't mean that they (the bank or collection agency) can't still try to collect on the debt.
I had a checking account with transunion in 98. It went into check syhstems for 500.00. I paided the collection agency around 4 months ago, I settled for 350.00. I tryed to open an account back with transunion again because I paid but it was still in check systems but showing paid. How long to entrys stay in check systems?
