Yo. I had some problems and accounts closed and charged off, will they just drop off in 5 years?

Basically......it is my understanding that after 5 years you are then able to open up a checking account. But that doesn't mean that they (the bank or collection agency) can't still try to collect on the debt.

I had a checking account with transunion in 98. It went into check syhstems for 500.00. I paided the collection agency around 4 months ago, I settled for 350.00. I tryed to open an account back with transunion again because I paid but it was still in check systems but showing paid. How long to entrys stay in check systems?

Then why even bother paying it if they dont remove it? Seems like a waste of money to me,

"Then why even bother paying it if they dont remove it? Seems like a waste of money to me" How about because you owe it?
