Does anyone know if a county government is subject to the FCRA regarding child support payments reported to a credit reporting agency? San Diego County (Calif.) has three entries on my husband's credit for past due child support - when his employer has never missed a payroll deduction since the court order. They list the same account number but different past due amounts. We sent a validation letter to the attorney in charge of enforcing payments. Does anyone know if we can sue for removal of the inaccurate information and non-compliance with the FCRA?
I paid child support for several years and a late payment was reported to the CRA. It wasn't my fault, but my employers. Anyway, I called the Office of Child Support and they had it removed without any problems. It may take a few weeks though.
