Hey thanks for your last post, I have been in contact with the sales guy all week about the vehicle we test drove, we filled out app on monday, he told us on tuesday, it looked good we had a conditional approval, (he didn't know the conditions) he asked for pay stubs on thursday, we gave them to him, and talked to him on friday and he said he has been trying to see the finance manager all day but he has been busy, said he would call us on sat. if not then Monday. Is this guy for real? I know we are asking for special financing but I didn't think it took this long. DH and I both took 2 hits on our credit report each with inquiries and I am nervous about going anywhere else and having them pull inquiries too. Last year when we went looking for a car we had about 5 hits within 2 days. Killed us, we barely have good credit as it is and these points are not helping. We got a really good rebate 5050 and a gm employee discount (not supplier) so if we trade in one we will keep the good trade line. Should I just email him tell him we are calling him on monday to please have something prepared and if he doesn't, start looking elsewhere? Your advice please, anyone....
I have read different post here that say if you are shopping for a car or house and generate multiple inquiries with a 14 day span they are counted as 1.
One of the million problems in car dealerships is the lack of responsibilty and alocation of such. The sales guy, who is probably working hard, is trying to communicate with the finance manager, whose job is to process customers who are in the showroom - not pre-check potential customers like yourself. Unfortunately, without instant approval, they are going to dick around for awhile, until someone gets a free moment. Make an appointment with the finance manager. Go in and review your application and the vehicle you are interested in. The salesman has done his job, now the dealership must get you bought. If you have employee perks, they should take you very seriously. I wish they would take everyone seriously, regardless. It is this kind of 'what can we do today' behavior that sickens me and makes car dealerships the last place one wants to visit. If the finance manager does not respond, call the general manager directly. Make an appointment with him or her, and express your concerns. You are being treated like a second class citizen, and you need to convey that. If you appear overly aggressive, they will fear that you are going to bury their CSI (customer service survey) and they won't want to sell you a car for fear of heat. Simply tell them you are a paying customer, like the rest, credit does not matter. You want to buy a car, and they need to move a unit. Sit down with the finance manager and the GM and look over your options and banks that will approve you. They will go over the applicable programs. If this does not work, please email me, and include the dealerships name and location, so I can put in a call, which I am more than happy to do. This often gets results, when a third party gets involved, especially from my organiziation, which is known for its no bullshit approach to buying a car. Good Luck!
thanks chipper great advice....although I am not sure if I will be buying a car right now, lots or turmoil! I will keep you posted! Thanks again
