Is CHOD that really effective? For it to work that would mean they would need to take the full 30 days allowed to prove this debt. Also is phone and online disputes good enough? i dont fell like paying 5 bucks to send it crrr??
Maybe it is overrated, but I am still saving some disputes for chod. I will sent TU online for free and the others CRRR. If you don't want to spend the money to sent CRRR, then just mail it out regular mail. Nothing is guaranteed. It's just a strategy that's all.
No, it's proof that they recieved it period. If they are as busy as everyone is claiming they are going to be you chance them claiming they never recieved your dispute.
Ted- Yes I do think that some are over rating CHOD HOWEVER I had everything removed that I disputed. I hate to be frank here but if you don't want to spend 5.00 to fix your credit you have no business doing it now anyway. You do not seem real serious about it, and you have to be very serious and really want to do it. It really is not a piece of cake ya know.
I would spend $500 if I could get a completely clean credit report. Spend the $5 if it is important to you. If not, then do it by phone. The only problem by phone is that you have no proof of when the investigation was started or that it was even started at all.
Ted, One of the best discussions regarding CHOD was in the "CHOD and all that it implies" thread. Do a search for that and I think that a lot of your questions about why the dispute must be sent CRRR are answered. Not only does it talk about the simple fact that you want a record of your dispute, but the whole point of CHOD is to innundate the CRAs with paperwork. You don't do that with an on-line or over the phone dispute. Like I said, go find the thread.
Chodism #5 At first I sent everything CRRR. As of late I just sent everything pain old mail. My last few were hand written too. I never had a problem, but that's just me. Sometimes I had great luck, sometimes not. My feelings on CRRR are, if it's really important, go CRRR. It's the only evidence you have that you mailed the letter.
Re: Chodism #5 I would not think it would overwhelm them any less to dispute online. After all, it is not the "slowdown/breakdown" of the USMail/process prior to entering the dispute information that would be important, it is the "slowdown/breakdown" AFTER the dispute gets entered, thereby, hopefully, talking more than 30 days to complete, or better yet, lost completely in the shuffle. -Peace, Dave
