This board and its members have been very helpful and informative. I used Lex Law for a month and did not like the service. I have been using this board for info and disputing and validating on my own and have already seen progress. Started 8/22/02. Thanks for everyones input and advice. I was wondering when is the best time to send disputes to the CRAs during this period. I was thinking to get it the by the Monday before Thanksgiving. Is this safe to assume? How many is a reasonable number of disputes to submit at this time? Would this be a good time to dispute judgements? I look at my judgement at the courthouse the other day and they had my current address on a garnishment form. Will this address be used to verify the judgement? This case started 3 addresses ago. Sorry for all the Q's. Thanks for any info....
I inquired about CHOD on a thread about a month ago. I was told to start during the first week of December, around the 7th.
I recently disputed a judgement on my EX report. I just checked it that it now states that this is small claims status. Before it was a civil suit. Is this an issue I can dispute on?
This could get interesting..... OK, Thanksgiving appears to be on November 28th this year. That leaves only 2 days until the end of that month. Now if you mail your CHOD on Monday the 24th, it should arrive the 27th/29th. Noone in the office on the 28th and most off on the 29th. SOOOOO, 30 days later is the 27th of December which is 2 days after Christmas when most folks on both sides of the investigation are still on vacation. To boot, the 27th falls on a Friday, but the 29th, a Sunday. Monday is the 30th and everyone is thinking about Tuesday night's parties and having another day off Jan 1. Oops! didn't they miss their 30 day window in all that! So what do ya'll think? Mail out on the 24th?
I think the 24th is probably the route I'd want to take. That way, even if it isn't signed for until Mon Dec 2, the 30 days will still expire Jan 1. It seems like the 24th works for mail-ins either way. I think if I was going the online route, I'd go with 11/27. They may tack on a couple of days to "get it into the system" but this should still work with the same timetable. I'm very interested to see what other thoughts are out there on this. Is there a rationale for waiting until Dec 7 or so that I'm missing? DemPooches
What I like about this method is that the dispute STARTS during a holiday with many employees on both ends out and ENDS with a holiday! Now that is the best way to increase the odds that they won't respond!
I think your right about starting the end of November. I only mentioned the 7th of December since someone here on this board recommended it. I don't know why that particular date. I guess by the time the dispute gets to them and is entered in their system, everyone at the CRA's are in holiday mode. I do think Thanksgiving sounds much better though.
Thanks for all the advice. I read that you should dispute half via USPS and the other half online. Any thoughts or comments?
Mine are going to be a couple of sticky ones with EX. They've been verified twice already so I'm going strictly mail with them. I'm also considering mailing the two disputes separately. I'm trying to decide whether someone at the courthouse is more likely to notice 2 requests in the same name and think it's important to respond...weighing this against the odds of a double dispute being labeled frivolous with EX. decisions, decisions.... I'm in a similar boat Dempooches. I have already disputed multiple times. I am taking EX to court (slam dunk win on this one! ) I am going to wait on TU and EQ. EQ is my best bureau and I am not overly worried about that one. TU is my worst. Given their propensity to delete, I feel that a CHOD is the best resolution with them!
I think we are not only relying on the fact that the CRA's will be on vacation, but we are also relying on the creditors and collection agencies to be on vacation, so they won't have as much time to verify. I agree that Nov 24 or so sounds like a good time to mail.
I'm all for this - the reasoning behind sending the disputes out on Nov 24th seems very valid - I'm going this route as well. One other point I might mention is that I strongly believe you should send out each dispute SEPERATELY. The reason for this is because you want to avoid getting the same person reading all your disputes and making a one shot judgment call on all of them (yes I do believe they don't really verify) Good luck to everyone, Sal
