    Hey everyone,

So I already did the free trials with CE and CW and now I was wondering what is the best way to check up on your credit reports. I have been doing disputes, doing the validation thing so I just need to check up.

Pay for the services, they are well worth the money

Either Credit Watch or Credit Expert is good.

Trans Union doesn't have one and even if they did it probably wouldn't be worth the money.

TU has monitoring services but you are correct...most say it does not cut the mustard.

I do not agree with the statement "they are well worth the money". When you start to get to 80 bucks a year to monitor ONE cra for changes to YOUR information in YOUR report it is a bit much I think.

There NEEDS to be a way consumers can monitor all of their reports for fraudulent activity and ID theft without requiring we pay for 3 separate services...sure the perks, like the score simulators and calculators are nice but the basic monitoring of OUR credit information should be FREE. Should the poor be more subject to ID theft or fraud than someone who can afford $240/year to monitor all 3 reports. We should demand nothing less, it is our information.

    JMO.

Exactly my feeling. I dont mind paying 80 a month but just for one report? Doesnt make money sense to me.

You know, I'm just gonna give the disputes some time and then apply for a card and if I get denied, get my credit reports for free

Excellent point: We have to pay just to watch our own files--pretty lousy.

Then again, shelling out a few bucks a month to keep these jokers in line is by far the lesser of the evils.

I've tried most of the services, I think CW is the best return for the buck, when it's working. It's pricey, and I'm locked out right now (b/c i'm scared to push them too hard, I'll wait patiently to get my file shortened), but if you're going to just go with one service, it's the one service that will give you the most information and peace of mind.

    Of course, YMMV.

In my opinion, if you are doing credit repair, they are well worth the money, maybe not for the everyday consumer, but they are gold for credit repair. I have taken advantage of these to catch ca's in violations, which I could not have done w/o the services.
