    Happy New Year to everybody

Itâ??s been awhile seen Iâ??ve posted, but I got a letter from an attorney/counselor a couple days before Christmas attempting to collect on a Gold Key Lease I had returned November 4, 1997. I was shocked. I have paid this lease on time and in full, now this attorney says that I owe over $5,700 dollars.

I live in MI and the SOL is 6 years. Currently, as always, my Gold Key Lease is listed on my CRs as Paid in Full, no lates. Perfect history.

What I need is know is what letter do I use. When I read the Debt Validation letter, can I remove this line: â??This is not a refusal to pay, but a notice that your claim is being disputed.â? I will not pay, as I donâ??t owe anything.

Also, do I even mention the fact that the SOL is up on this â??claim of collectionâ?? I mean, the SOL is up on trying to collect this so called â??claim of collectionâ?, but can it be put on my CRs till the 7 year reporting SOL is up which would be November '04?

I havenâ??t done this in a while and could use some help, please.

    Chrysler Financial

The car was a '95 Chrysler Cirrus, leased in November '95. It was a two year lease.

Is anything showing up on your credit reports from this collector? Has he pulled any inquiries?

Who was the lease originally with? What is an alleged "debt" doing in the hands of a CA years after it was paid off?

No this is the first notice of this "debt". In fact the letter came in my maidian name.

I did not have any over mileage, no damage to the car and the I did not turn it in late or early. PLUS I had a $1000 SecurityDeposit which was returned to me, as I used it for a down payment on the car I purchased after turning in the lease.

Nothing is showing on my CRs, they have not pulled any inquiries. The orginal lease was with Chrysler Financial.

I have no idea where is came from.

    Re: Re: Christmas Surprise

oh, lbrown, quit flirting, your making me blush.

i was simply asking so that the storyline behind the tradeline was clear. i didn't want to say debt validation if there was more to the story.
