I was wondering if anyone here has them? If so.. did you have any problems w/approvals or anything? Do you like the service? Give me the Skinny.....
Hubby and I have Cingular as a back up for our Nextel phones. We live in the country and unfortunately, nothing works out here except cellular. We applied about 4 years ago and they did not pull a report, nor did they ask for a deposit (I think the policy may have changed though). Their plans are not that great (cost wise vs. minutes included), but we don't use them that much. Customer service is polite, but clueless. You end up being transferred to 3-4 people before a problem gets resolved. Dani
My experience has been different from Kiyi's. I got them via my local service under the name of Bellsouth Mobility (which became Cingular last year). Bellsouth Mobility did check Equifax, and my score was probably in the mid to high 500's at the time with several paid CO's, paid collections, and lates. I was approved instantly (in the store) with no deposit, because I had been pre-approved for months and had a long local phone bill excellent payment history (4 years). The service has been fantastic. The Cingular reps have always been kind to me, and informative wrt to how I can save money with different plans. When Iv'e had problems, I've always been helped by their tech support immediately. When they introduced an integrated wireline/wireless voicemail and it didn't work, their tech support AND the initial rep were on the phone with me until the problem got fixed. I think that Cingular has the best service plans available. Currently, I'm on the national plan for $25 a month with 250 anytime minutes and 3500 (= unlimited) nights&weekends per month. No long distance charges and no roaming charges ever. I'm about ready to disconnect my home phone and just rely on the cellular phone exclusively. It helps, I think, if you apply through your local phone company for the cell phone service. Somehow, credit standards are based more on your phone bill than your credit report.
I've been with Cingular since 1999(bellsouth mobility). I've never had any problems. My score at the time was in the 500s. They checked my credit and gave me up to 6 phones. There rates may be a little higher, I haven't checked. I don't get a lot of dropped calls. ie sprint.
Yeah and their lawyer/collection agency is idiots, letter has no mini-miranda, not statement that I can dispute the validity of the debt. Nothing. Gotta love idiots.
That's strange...I just got a letter from their CA (National Recovery Systems), and this one does have the mini-miranda and validation blurb. The funniest part is, I've never even used Cingular!!!!
I use them and i can't wait till my contract is up in 3 months..I drop calls all day long and four miles away from home no signal.,But yet they have a store in my town..They need improvment in the North East..Verizon Wireless is what i think is the best..Infact here is a site i recently discovered... http://wirelessadvisor.com/waforums/index.cfm
