Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly BofA is not as BK unfriendly as some of the other prime's. From my research Chase, MBNA, BankOne, you are automatically denied for as long as the BK is on your CR. (I was told that point blank from a Chase CSR not to waste my time applying with them.) I had a very decent conversation with a BofA CSR and she said you are at least considered for a card from them at BK +7 as long as you have re-established your credit, and your utilization is reasonable. FWIW, your mileage may vary.
Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly Chase definately. Their losers anyways so who cares. BofA, you'll be auto-declined, but the odds are better than 50-50 that a PFB will overturn the denial. MBNA and BankOne maybe. Each of these review apps manually, and if your 7-10 years out and you've established a solid record, there is a chance, albeit a small one, but still a chance, it depends on what your reports look like and your housing status, time at job, income, etc. Rubyjean is a credit analyst at MBNA so maybe she can add some color here. From personal experience, I was grilled for almost 20 minutes.
Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly Congrats on your approval, duke! Brad, I was denied by MBNA, after a 20-minute grilling session by a mean credit analyst. She was a total b*tch, so I doubt I would ever apply for anything issued by MBNA again. At least Chase gave me a chance - I'll have to give them a chance, as well. All the horror stories I've read about them scare me, though!
Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly Congratulations on the new card, dduke25! citychick, you're better off without MBNA.
Re: Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly Hedwig, I got that feeling after dealing with the MBNA credit analyst. If they're that mean to potential customers, how much better would they be to their existing ones? Since CreditNet, I've gotten much better cards (AMEX!!), and I've gotten the ones I want to establish credit histories with - so now I'm set. And MBNA is not one of them
Re: Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly You're right. Stay away from them. They jack your rate because your ratio on some other card is too high, or because you spend too much, or because you don't spend enough, or because you just don't breathe right!
Re: Re: BofA is very BK unfriendly Yes, but a lot of Circuit City Visa cardholders have BK that were discharged only 3-4 years ago. I wonder what will happen to them.
