The question was posted by someone else but never answered so I'll ask again: Anyone have a Circut City card with a BK on file? Limits? Are they score driven only? I live in Arizona and wondering what CRA they pull. I checked Whopulledmycredit but it doesn't say.
I have been denied twice by Circuit City and I have good credit. Both times they sent me a letter with absolutely no explanation why they denied me. What a waste of an envelope and a stamp. They pull Equifax in Georgia and they use First North American National Bank in Kennesaw, GA. I have never heard of this bank.
I was approved for CC about 2 months ago. $2000 credit limit. They pulled Equifax. My EQ score was 650 and my BK is from 10/2001.
Feeling pretty good about my score and my chances, I wondered into Circuit City this weekend and applied for credit. While they were running it I walked about, selected a nice 36" flat screen and since we need a new computer monitor, I looked at a couple of those also. Went back to the counter to check the status and it came back 'denied.' Here in Arizona Circuit City uses Equifax. My EQ score is 649. I have positive open tradelines and only one inquiry over the past six months (for The Dish Network). So I'm very interested to see why I was denied when the letter comes. Can I/Should I call them and ask why before the letter comes and has anyone had any luck with a reversal with a phone call?
Re: Re: Circut City Credit with BK Look at the bright side, you are probably better off. After you get them to reconsider in a couple of weeks, the price on that 36" flat screen will drop a little more. I keep telling myself I am going to buy either the 48" Mitsubishi or the 50" Sony projection TVs, but I just can't do it. I keep thinking it will get cheaper - and it will. By the time I decide to pull the trigger, I'll be able to get a 42" plasma for $2000!
FNANB is Circuit City's Bank, they own it. However they are selling it to Bank One soon in the future.
Re: Re: Circut City Credit with BK Are you guys saying I should call them after I get the rejection letter and see if they will reconsider the app? Has anyone had any luck with that?
Re: Re: Circut City Credit with BK Not just with Circuit City.......Anytime you feel you have a shot at getting approved, you should always PFB, call, or write the ivory tower for reconsideration.
Re: Re: Circut City Credit with BK Any idea how soon? I BK'd a Chase account 5 months ago, and if i want a Circuit City card, I would think that I need to apply for it before it switches banks. Any idea how FNANB is with discharged BKs in your history?
Re: Re: Re: Circut City Credit with Initially it took weeks before I even could get anyone to even admit I was rejected. Made several calls just to find out what's up. Finally I received a very generic rejection letter. I have a 9 year old BK, my EFX Fico was around 660 when they pulled it. I received NO explanation of why I was denied, I called, I sent a Planet Feedback, I called again, they were very rude, and I never received a concrete answer. I can not see how they can be solely score driven when I have seen folks claiming to have lower scores get credit with them. One item I thought was potentially negative was that I had four inquiries around the time of the pull. Two of the hard inquiries should have been soft pulls, I complained to EFX and they corrected it. I also had a derog removed. I then called Ckt City credit, told them my CR was corrected, and asked if I could have the CRA resend them my report to reconsider, and they said they don't have the ability to review an already rejected app. The whole experience was quite negative.
Re: Re: Re: Circut City Credit with I applied earlier this month to get the CC card, and instead of waiting for some stuff to get taken off my report that would bump my score, I applied with a 617 FICO and was denied. Once I got one of my larger accts paid off my score jumped to 645 so I figured id call them and see if they could reconsider the app. I was told by different agents when I called that they dont reconsider apps, and that I would have to wait to apply again. The letter you get in the mail has no phone numbers and no reasons as to why you are denied. Their operation is kinda flimsy at best, but I guess if you can get a nice TL it doesnt really matter.
