Just saw a commercial on NBC for Citi Identity Theft Solutions.

At the end there is an image of a Citi card and it says "AS LOW AS 3.9% FIXED***". It flashes so fast that of course you can't read the fine print...

Anyone heard of this, or am I losing my mind? :)

Yep, its a true offer. I'm a citibank employee and anyone can apply for it... HOWEVER
based on your credit, you will get either ...
    3.99%, 6.99%, 7.99% or 9.99%

Existing CM's may also qualify for the offer, just call customer service and tell them you saw the new ad for the 3.99% card. They might be able to adjust your acct

Does anyone know if the 3.99 is documented anywhere else? I looked all over Citi website and can't find it.

I guess I will give them a call and ask for it. My 7.99 account has only been open for a couple of weeks...

I have a Citi card, I called last week and the best BT rate for me was 5.9%, then I paid the bal. down to less than 50% this week and called them (CITI CSR) yesterday and they offered me 3.9% for 6mos. on new balance transfers. So you can probably call and get the 3.9%, if you have utilization on the card less than 50% and no lates with CITI.

We are talking here about 3.9% fixed ( ongoing ) APR for purchases, NOT BT !!!

I could not find anything on the web either...

p, WHERE ANY OF THE ABOVE MESSAGES DOES IT STATE ANYONE WAS REFERRING TO 3.9% FIXED JUST FOR PURCHASES!!! ANYWAY, YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL THE CSR/RENTION AND TRY TO NEGOTIATE A BETTER RATE!

We all know about 3.9% on BT and that's not sensational news !!!
Even that's not the best BT rate...their best BT rate is 0%.

But 3.9% ongoing for purchases is SENSATION !!!
And I believe we all are on the same frequency...

From what I understood reading this post...THAT'S NEW CARD, NEW PRODUCT, NEW PRICING...Whatever...

    Not BT offer...

P, I would not necessarily consider 3.9% fixed on purchases sensational. I would consider it problematic, why pay any interest at all. The CC co. are counting on folks continued or overuse of cards over time. The can always increase the purchase rate, with the hope that folks continue to use the card even at the higher rates. The smart ones will not do this or they'll transfer balance to lower rate cards.

Overall the majority of consumers will probably not notice when their rates rise or they will have some unforseen financial situation occur and they are late or miss a payment. Some of these things happened to me in my college days, and before I knew how credit works.

p, I could not infer that from the posts and actually one othe posts said that even existing customer might be able to get by calling CITI CSR. This yr. I was able to my current balance, converted over to 0% purchase rate and I think it was with CITI or Discover. I think I read somewhere that Bank of America 1.9 fixed for life, but I am sure what all the terms were or if this was for BT or Purchases.

Just to clarify, it was a 3.9% ongoing purchase rate, not a balance transfer offer being advertised.

Just called CS...they said no way does this rate exist -- it must be an intro or BT rate she said. She said there is no way they would offer an ongoing purchase rate that low, FYI. Guess I will look out again for the commercial!

    4.90% BT...(they probably WON'T give me 0.00% BT rate)
    3.99% PURCHASES...

    THAT'S REAL LOGICAL!!!

BUT I GUESS 3.99% IS BETTER THAN THE 6.99% I HAVE (PURCHASES)

...NO GUARANTEE ANYBODY CAN GET IT LOWERED ON WHAT THEY HAVE...NO NEW CARD???

Sam -- I have 0% on BT's for a year, but my got to is 7.99 fixed on purchases. This was a 3.99 fixed ongoing purchase rate that I THOUGHT I saw advertised but Citi rep told me I must be mistaken...

Need to see what the fine print said I guess!

    George....

I hope you get the rate, BUT if I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much with that 3.99% rate.
