Applied for Citi AA (the one we all know) 3 months back. They pulled Experian. On Ex I had the following:

    Provid 1500cl/300 10 Months open
    Cap1 1500cl/600 8 months open
Unpaid Charge off 3500 6 years old
    Credit Expert Score: 658

    Today I now have

    Provid 1600cl/500 1yr, 1mo open
    Cap1 1500cl/700 11 mo open
    Best Buy 1200cl/1000 high limit/0 bal/ 4 mo old
    Credit Expert Score 682

My unpaid charge off was deleted (Yahoooo), and I now have one card over a year old. No negs on my report anymore. All accounts current, never late.

Should I apply again? Will the deletion of the negative unpaid charge off, and the aging of my account over 1 year be good enough?

I have no credit history now beyond the above.

    Thanks for any advice.

WAIT TILL CAPITAL ONE IS 1 YEAR OLD...

Even though it is only one month it will help a lot.

I would apply right now, if instant approval then apply for the Gold.

I was approved for two cards/ 9k each in January with a CapOne 12 months old and
a 2 months old retail card.

Apply, and if denied, call or PF them.

Believe me, it works. And your credit is MUCH better than mine. I have no real history but a few derogs that are pretty old.

    Allrighhhhtttt!

I applied, instant approval for $6,500! I am so jazzed right now!

I turned right around to apply for the gold as well, but didn't know what to do about the "do you have a citi card now" part? If I put down yes, it asks for part of the code from the back of the card, which I obviously don't have yet.

Do I apply, and put down I don't have a card yet?

    Help quick!

I'd like to get the gold, then call and have them combined.

    This board absolutely ROCKS!!!

And to think that 2 years ago, I couldn't qualify to get water in my place! Literally. Was turned down by Sparklets because of my poor credit.

What a day! Experian caves in on my small claims suit, deleted the entry, and now this!

    Party time!

And oh, if I do apply again, going the "do not have card" route, do they pull another inquiry? I would never use the full amount of this card, let alone another 6k, but it would be great for my balance ratio.

    Applied Again, APPROVED!

I searched the board (sorry for premature questions, just excited as all get out:)) and applied again for the Gold AAdvantage.

    Approved, 5K Limit!!!!

Can't tell you all how good this feels to FINALLY be considered credit worthy again by someone other than Providian and Cap 1!

    So, now I've got:

    AAdvantage $6,500
    Gold AAdvantage $5,000

    $11,500 total credit with Citi.:)

What process should I use to combine the two into a Platinum select? Call immediately or wait until I get the cards?

And will I now have two inquiries? Small price to pay if so, just wondering if maybe I could get Citi to remove one of them if I ask?

Couldn't have done it without this board! Thanks to one and all.

They only got me for 1 inquiry which was cool. Wait until you get both cards which should arrive together. Activate 1 and then call the number on the back. Tell them that you have another card and that you would like to combine the 2. They have the information on the other card already in the computer. After that it's a done deal and your set. Maybe someone else can give you advice on how and when to switch to Platinum select if that's what you want to do.
