Fiance applied for Citi AA silver and gold.

Today, he received a letter that denied him the gold card, because he already had the max. # of citi and AT&T cards allowed.

He has 1 AT&T and 1 Platinum select.

He has not heard any word yet on the silver.

    1. Can someone restate what the max. number of accounts is?

    2. Is it possible that he was approved for the silver since we haven't heard anything on that one yet?

It sounds like not the max number of cards but may be the max number of applications in 60 days..

I would think the silver is a go. I got the same letter when I applied for 2 cards, first got the denial for max number of cards, then got the other card. I know kev has had success with multiple cards, but I have went around circles with Citi and their execs and they still maintain "3" is the most allowed:(

bailey- do you mind me asking what your reports looked like at the time you were approved? And what were your scores?

Im not sure what citibanks deal is really..
i have had 5 citibank cards at one time or another..
    currently have 3.

    I have a Friend who has 4.

My boss has 2 plat select, diners club, atandt universal and world plat select... so thats 5

the most my girlfriend can get is 2????????

It may depend on credit history income and amounts owed...

I agree with an earlier post that applications on file is important also. From what I have read, the most seems to be 3. Of the 3, it seems you can have 2 citi cards and one affiliate card. But as we all have read, some have more. I have had 3 on file at one time, but I combine to make it two. I plan on applying again in 60 days to see what happens. Easiest way to get a limit increase if it works.

It was definitly the number of accounts, not the number of applications.

Hopefully this means he got the silver.

btw- between the two applications, citi put 3 inquiries on his report all 3 on different days. I just checked his score power. he had a score over 700, now it is 670 with # of inquiries as the top reason code. I'm pissed about this.
