I know a bunch of us here have Citi AA cards. Has anyone upgraded to the AA World card? Citi is killing me with the letters and phone calls to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade if it will close my old CR tradeline and create a new tradeline (I don't want to lose FICO points). Has anyone upgraded, I'd be interested in hearing what happened. Thanks, EdG
Citi AAWorld card does NOT report the credit limit. This is because there is no "real" limit to the card. 1) This hurts your score because your balance to limit ratio will not be offset with a # for limit. 2) Some like this because other banks do not see their total revolving credit limit. I believe it will end your old Citi AA card # and you will have to get a new AAWorld #...as to age of acounts, I bet you can work with Citi to maintain the tradelines reported age (call a Citi rep and ask). It is up to you but those are the issues concerning the card...other than that, I am sure this is an excellent card as all Citi cards are. -Peace, Dave
I'd like to confirm what Nave said. Switched over to World from regular AA two months ago. They do issue you a new account number (and therefore a new account on your credit reports), but it is reported as being open from the date your original AA card. It has only reported once, and without a credit limit. IMO, this has more advantages than disadvanteges. Basically YOU decide what CL appears on your report, and that can't be a bad thing. Simply charge up to what you want your CL to show for one month, then continue using the card as usual. This is great : a. If you want to hide your real credit limit. b. To show a higher CL than what u really have. Since the world cards have no pre-set limits, u can charge higher than your real CL, and have that show. All in all, I'm glad I made the switch. More benefits for the same price, and negligable or positive effect on your credit score. -roman
I would ask for an increase in the credit limit instead of the WORLD card...(NO CREDIT REPORT)...if you ask every time they ask...you will have $50,000 credit limit in no time at all...
FYI, Citi AA World doesn't report the Credit Limit OR the High Credit on my bureau reports so if it closes the cycle with a balance it's always a negative effect on my scores. I now try to always pay in full on the due date and either don't use the card between the due date and the statement date or, if I do, I make an overpayment which gets to them before the statement date.
