I was approved for a citigold card with a 9,000 cl. I called today to get it changed over to a Platinum select card. The rep told me that she could change over the card but she couldn't give me the 0% APR BT rate. She said that I needed a direct solicitation for that offer. HAs anyone here ever been successful in getting that 0% APR when converting a gold card to Platinum? Thanks,

I used to work for a credit card company (FirstUSA). A Supervisor should be able to implement a 0% rate on the card. Granted, they'll have to do it manually whereas the rep can do it if you have a product code from an ad.

I'd call back and ask a supervisor (Nicely) if they can implement it for you.

When I worked at FUSA we were able to. In fact, I was the person responsible in our dept for changing the rates :)

So they had only you to lower the rates... They probably had 10 others to jack them up again.

Well I called Citi and asked for a supervisor as my APR and BT rate is 12.99. He said he could only lower it to 6.99 for 6 months. I guess I will have to PFB them. Those are outrageous rates.

Actually in our office there were 3 of us. All we did were the manual reductions (Rates that should have dropped but didn't).

Marketing dept. is responsible for raising rates, and yes - there's no way we can keep up with them :/
