If I were initially declined by Citi for the Diamond Rewards card(baddie from 2 1/2 yrs back), would I have better luck by applying for the AAdvantage card and then requesting a different card? Or would I be wasting an inquiry? Any thoughts?
I got approved for an aadvantage card last week, called and requested a card without an annual fee and they switched me to a diamond rewards card. Worked for me so it may be worth it. They did not pull my credit twice, just the time i applied for the aadvantage card. The guy I spoke to was really nice and switched me no problems since I was already approved for the aadvantage card. I just don't like cards with annual fees! I didn't realize the aadvantage card had an annual fee till I was approved GO FIGURE!
I actually did PFB last week for reconsideration because I've had 3 positive accts in the past with them. Hopefully I'll hear something in the coming weeks.
Hi, Fatzcobra - I am officially on Citibank's sh*tlist, due to an account paid in full in Jan. 96 which was closed by them in 93. And they were pretty snippy about it - so I was told to *maybe* try again in 2006 - yeah, right... I put in for a reconsideration with Chase (got declined for 2 30-day lates from over 2 years ago). They were much nicer. Also, MBNA made me feel like crap, so to Hell with them, too. I'm sticking with those who were nice and willing to give me a chance (Amex & BofA). Good luck with your PFB, but if it doesn't work out, there are better ones out there more worthy of your business
Re: Re: Citi approvals question... Thanks for the luck. It'll be needed. I've actually had 3 accts w/ Citibank...never late or past due...all closed by me on good terms, so that's what I'm counting on for reconsideration. I'm just looking for one more card to eventually replace Cap 1 with. I've got BofA Plat(they're awesome!), Chase Universal Plat, and Amex Green Rewards. I want to replace Cap 1 w Amex Blue Cash, but need to get a baddie or two off my report before that will happen. Figured I'd work on Citibank for now since I've already wasted the inquiry.
