Citibank just sent me a solicitation for a platinum select card, offering 0% on BT's until Aug 2003 and a go to rate of 9.74%. Not a bad deal. Funny thing is I already carry the platinum select card - but the apr is the standard 12.9% and the BT offers I get aren't quite as good as this offer........ I plan on calling Citi to get the BT offer and apr in the solicitation applied to my existing account (account is in excellent order). Anyone had any success with anything similar or know who to call to get this processed?
PRIME + 0.90% IS THEIR BEST...I COULD ONLY GET PRIME + 3.90% OUT OF THEM!!! But my 0.00% BT still is going...SO NO BIG DEAL...I will try at another time for a lower rate... 8.65% IS STILL THE BEST "GO-TO" RATE I HAVE...
I have prime plus 1.9%, which is 6.65%, and I think that's pretty darn good. Just call them and tell them you got offered a card from "so and so bank" at "such and such" a rate. Make sure you give them a low rate, like 8.9% fixed from Capital One or something (remember, ur bluffing!), and they should go down to prime +2.9% or even 1.9% if you have a generous CSR. Good luck!
In order to have an offer for a new card applied to an existing account, you will need to call Citi retention (do a search here for "direct to r") and fax them a copy of the pre-approval. They will move the BT offer to the current account within 48 hours. You can check online to see when it gets updated.
Thanks to all for the responses. I was amused to get an offer for a card that I already have but with better terms than I currently get!
