citi avantage DECLINE

    I have no negatives but was declined for the citi aadvantage m/c. Anyone have the telephone number for NEW ACCOUNTS so that I may possibly plead my case?

    This is great information! I am in close to the same boat but need this kind of number for the American Express Gold Delta Sky Miles card. One of the reasons they declined me was balances which have been paid off. I want them to re-consider.

    Thanks Marci, but another questio...should I ask for anyone in particular, or can I speak to anyone that answers ?

    When you share your reference number for the decline, the initial reps
    will tell you why they declined you.

    At that point, depending on what their reasons are and depending on if
    you feel that you can make a compelling case for re-consideration, then
    ask for a supervisor so that you can request a "re-evaluation" of your
    application b/c of the following reasons: ____________, etc... In other
    words, sell yourself.

    Only a supervisor can over-ride the initial denial and re-route it back to
    the credit dept.

    For me, I made a compelling case, because I was desperate for
    a prime card and because I told the supervisor the truth.

    I hope things go well for you. Citi seems like it is really giving these
    cards away almost like candy and if an application is re-routed by
    a supervisor I think you'll have a much easier time being approved.
    Especially if you were denied by a computer in the first place.
