davelv.....ps......I was thinking about applying for the b of a business card....did you have a long credit history when you got 35k? The just rejected someone I know with good credit on TU, said too many inq (2) and ave age of accounts too low. (a few years I think) - but score over 700. Makes me wonder how picky they'll be. (He said he was approved for amex business- the b of a card he applied for was personal then he was going for biz I think) I haven't gotten an offer from them, I was just going to apply. (I hate rejection!)
I have 19 inquiries on TU (well -- 18 before the BofA inquiry). My file goes back to 1987 and there are no negatives. I don't think inquiries really hurt you for business credit. Last month I applied for a personal amex gold and a business amex gold days apart. I applied for the personal card first and was rejected for "too many inquiries" (I later got that reconsidered). The business card sailed right through with no problems.
Not to make it sound like I have this long great GEORGE credit history. My oldest ACTIVE account only dates to 1998.
Dave, I appreciate your willingness to share. I guess my question then is on TU did you have any recent inq for credit? Because like I said this person only had 2 (total!) but they were recent. We think more that maybe because it was a personal card, his OLDEST card was 3 years. I am assuming you have older credit that is just closed? We must be the same age. Mine reports back to 87 too but I don't have any history before 98ish. When the bad stuff went, all the good older had aged off, leaving me with a "short" history. Don't know if that will hurt me? I have good credit. At least mbna and chase thought so when they looked at tu lol. We need more business credit to get this debt off us. Same person above (my partner and brother) was approved for amex biz but we don't know the limit. Since b of a seemed someone liberal with cl thought I'd try them. I have 2 inq on ef (applied for citibiz and haven't heard yet); 2 on exp and 3 on tu. I mean recent inq. I don't have tons before those but those were this month. Trying to figure out who to apply for based on who pulls what. There weren't a lot of reports in the "who pulled my credit" file. Only one for advanta I think so I don't know who they pull in TN.
The more I think about it, the more I think you might have been approved if your credit report really does report back to 87?
Dave did you have any luck getting them to raise the initial cl? I got approved I can't remember if you answered this, but do you carry any balances over 50% short term on your biz cards with no side effects? We need to get some of this short term biz debt off our personal cards.
